Microsoft Office 365 Canvas Integration

Canvas supports an integration with Microsoft Office 365 in Assignments, Collaborations, Modules, Course Navigation, and the Rich Content Editor. This integration allows students and instructors to use, create, share, and collaborate on Office 365 files within Canvas. Users can also view their OneDrive files directly in Canvas.

Course Navigation

Access your OneDrive files in Canvas (Links to an external site.). Click on the Office 365 link in the left-hand navigation menu of each course. You will be prompted to login to your OneDrive account (Note: You are the only one who can access your OneDrive files this way. If students click on this link, they will be prompted to log in to their own account). If you would like to disable this feature, you can do this under Settings > Navigation.

To log in, select Office 365 from the Course Navigation Menu, then select Log In

Select Log In to Office 365.

Select Accept to give Canvas permission to access your o365 account.

After logging in to your Office 365 account, you can view all files in your OneDrive account.

Assignments

Cloud Assignments

Instructors can create an online embedded assignment through an external tool. With the Microsoft Office 365 external tool, this assignment type creates a view of the assignment file that acts as a template for a student’s assignment submission. Accepted assignment types are Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Students can upload a OneDrive file as an assignment submission. When students click on the Submit Assignment button, they will see an Office 365 tab. This will link them to their OneDrive account. They can choose a file from their OneDrive account and submit it.
