Viewing and Saving Zoom Captions with Live Transcript

Use Zoom's Live Transcript feature to display captions.

A record of the captions can be seen in the meeting's side panel. The captions can be saved as a .txt file.

To enable Live Transcript, find the Closed captioning settings in the Zoom account settings of the host account. It's recommended to find this section by searching with Ctrl + F and entering caption or transcription

Make sure Closed captioning is on as well as Enable live transcription... and Save Captions are on.

While in the meeting, Choose Live Transcript from the menu.

While Live Transcript is on, select View Full Transcript to see the side panel with the transcription.

The side panel will show a record of the transcript. Select Save Transcript to save the current record.

You will see a message that the transcript has been saved and will also get a prompt to Show in Folder

The transcript should save in the location OneDrive - Adler University\Documents\Zoom\[meeting name]. This should be the same location recordings are saved in.

The transcript will save as a .txt file so you can open it in notepad. The format will keep timestamps with each entry but not names.

Notes:

Transcriptions will save independently of recordings. Remember to record the meeting as well if you need the video and audio from the meeting.

It's possible to generate captions for meetings that have been recorded via Zoom Cloud Recording. See the article, Using audio transcription for cloud recordings
