Zoom will often complete auto updates when releasing security patches and/or newer versions of the application.
The following steps will allow you to check your Zoom version and apply an update if it has not been completed automatically.
Check the Current Zoom Version
To see what your Zoom client application version is:
- Open the Zoom desktop application and log in if necessary.
- Click your profile picture to open the Profile menu.
- Click Help, then click About Zoom. The program will display information about the current version.
- Click Close (x) at top right to close the About window.
Update the Zoom app Version
To update Zoom to the most recent version:
- Open the Zoom desktop application and log in if necessary.
- Click your profile picture to open the Profile menu.
- Click Check for Updates
If a newer version of Zoom is available, it will be downloaded.
4. To install the new version, click Update. (You may need to restart your computer after installation.)
Troubleshooting Zoom Updates
As of February 7, 2023, an update was needed for Zoom that was able to auto-update for some, but others received the below message:
Your app version needs to be 5.10.3 or higher to sign in. [...]
The Service Desk has created a package to assist with this error, and it is located on the Company Portal. For any users that have an Adler-issued devices, contact the Service Desk at the support Portal, support.adler.edu or by emailing [email protected] and let us know your Zoom client isn't automatically updating and won't let you manually update. We will configure the system to automatically un-install Zoom. Let us know when Zoom has been removed and we will re-configure the system to let you install Zoom again. It should install automatically over the course of 8 hours. You may also manually install Zoom once it's been removed by following these instructions:
1. Go to the Start menu
2. Type in Company Portal
3. Select the application and launch it
4. Click on “Zoom for Windows” and it will update it to the current version.
